WELCOME TO IOGKF INDIA

THE BIRTH PLACE OF KARATE

The Japanese martial arts ,as they are practised today , have as a cradle the distinguished oriental civilization. In ancient Persia , India , China , and South East Asia , martial have always been practised .Today they are no secret to the entire world. The aftermath of the Second World War revealed the unmatchable competence of various Japanese arts. Besides, the rigid core of honor of the Nippon exercised such a marked influence on the world , that the practice of budo ( martial arts ) flourished with unprecedented popularity .

India gained tremendously with the renaissance of martial arts ,and soon clubs and organisations were set up . Judo became predominant over other Japanese martial arts , and ten years ago both Judo as well as Karate were made known to the Indian public through the auspices of THE ASSOCIATION OF MARTIAL ARTS INDIA ( A.M.A.) . Bombay would have never witnessed the emergence of A.M.A without the consummate dedication and determination of a man whose life for the past thirty one years has been associated with the promotion of martial arts in India.

The A.M.A was founded by Sensei Pervez B.Mistry in the year 1964

Sensei Pervez B.Mistry was initiated to Judo at the age of 13 , and after four years of strenous traning under Mr.Kowanko ,6th Dan ,qualified for his 1st Dan, Judo, in India . Eager to promote the art ,he started his own class with two students at his residence . This home class was the nucleus of the A.M.A , which steadily grew with time. The A.M.A strengthened its relations with many social institutions by giving demonstrations to implant the art of judo in the minds of the Indian public , and the Indo Japanese Association gave a life membership to the A.M.A . Today the art is promoted in India , under the able Chief Instructor Sensai Pervez Misrty who has trained and has been associated to Shihan Higaonna Morio since the past 21 years .Sensei Mistry is supported by his Deputy Chief Instructors , Kyohai Burge S.Cooper , Kyohai Homi Amalsadvala and Kyohai Shyam V.Kotak .
